"Joe Henry was the lead singer with Reverend Easemore and the Mojo Workers. He was always easy going and encouraged everyone to improvise. He liked to say, ‘Just feel it; you know what you’re doing!’ He came from the South and would have become one of the singers for the Might Clouds of Joy, if he hadn’t been drafted. Anyway, we were doing a gig up in Mt. Vernon one night and he just passed out. A couple of weeks later he ended up in the hospital unconscious. A few of us in the band went to visit him in the ICU. I sat there and took out my harmonica and started playing and incredibly, he suddenly sat right up and started singing, just like that. It was amazing. Sadly we lost him not too long afterwards.”
