Hi
King Cocktail, Love your site!!! We're having a cocktail party next week and
wondered if you had any tips for designing your own cocktails??? You're invited
of course!!! Thanks heaps. JN Australia.
Hi
Jn, Try to mix sweet and sour ingredients...they make more interesting drinks...Don't
over-use fresh lemon and lime juice it is very concentrated...another cool
idea is for four of five preple to pick an ingredient and craft a cocktail
from them....unfortunatley you need a rather extensive bar and at least one
person who feels at home mixing cocktails...finall use alot od fresh fruit
and don't be afraid to mash it up with the spirits...then shake and strain.
Have fun..sorry i can't be there...
Could
you please provide me with the recipe to make a Mai Tai. Thank You! -CB

Do
you have a good Virgin Frozen Margarita recipe for my non-drinking friends?
Can it be adapted for my drinking friends or do I have to start over? Sherri
Hi
Sherri, Go to the grocery and ask a clerk for non-alcoholic wines...if they
have an alcohol free white zinfandel get that ...if not get some alcohol free
white wine (not sparkling) Try this recipe;
VIRGIN
FROZEN MARGARITA
1
1/2 oz. Fresh lime juice
3 oz. non-alcoholic triple sec (if you can't find it use simple syrup, which
is equal parts of sugar and water; shake till the sugar dissolves)
3 oz. Alcohol free white wine
1 cup of ice
Blend
and serve.
Cheers
Dear
King, How
to serve cointreau on the rocks.? only Ice, Cointreau and one slice of orange?
In a short glass? I'm an amateur and a last night with my friends talking
about cointreau. Thanks. Cap Indi
Hi
Capindi, Don't worry it is a wonderful product and you can't ruin it...enjoy
it the way you like it...try Cointreau Mist or frappe...don't get nervous
all that means is in a rock glass over crushed ice...orange slice is great,
If you want drama use Blood oranges, they aren't as sweet as regular oranges
but they are great looking.
Also you can flame orange peels for drama and to enhance the orange oil flavor
FLAMING:
You can create a festive pyrotechnical display for your guests with the oil
present in the skin of lemons and oranges. To flame the oil, hold a lit match
in one hand, and the twist in the other. Hold the twist by the side not the
ends, between thumb and forefinger, skin side down, about four inches above
the drink. Don't squeeze or you'll lose all the oil before you flame. Hold
the match between the drink and the twist, closer to the twist. Snap the twist
sharply, propelling the oil through the lit match and onto the surface of
the drink. (Be sure to hold twist far enough from the drink to avoid getting
a smoky film on the glass.) Cheers
Dear
King Cocktail - I love your website, but I hope I can make a correction to
one of the responses given to your readers. The person asked about how to
make the FLIRTINI from Sex in the City.
While I know that there are always different versions of popular drinks the
following Flirtini recipe is the one posted on the official HBO, Sex in the
City website and is somewhat different from your posted response:
FLIRTINI
1/2 oz Raspberry
Vodka (suggest new Smirnoff Raspberry Twist over Stoli) 1/2 oz Triple Sec
Splash each of lime, cranberry, and pineapple juice. Shake ingredients vigorously
and strain into a martini glass that has four raspberries muddled in the bottom
of the glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a sprig of mint. Color should
be a pale yellow. Hope this helps! TJT
Dale,
I need some infor - hope you can help. Was the Bloody Mary around in the Early
30's in Europe. I need a reference for CABARET and I thought I could use it?
Heres the situation, its the morning after, and Sally is concocting Prarie
Oysters for her and Cliff to drink, however the actors do not want to drink
a raw egg (I don't blame them!) so I need a replacement hangover remidy taht
she can make on stage. I thought the BM would be ok, but now I am not sure,
any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks Arthur
Hi
Arthur.. I think you should keep the Prairie Oqster...first of all it is such
a great visual for him to crack the two eggs about shoulder height and plop
them into the glass below...Mask the two glasses with some props so the audience
can't see them and have two other glasses with something yellow like OJ mixed
with a couple drops of Angostura bitters (the worsterchire sauce) and he gives
them a stir but hands her the glass with the OJ instead of the glass with
the egg...It will be a sensation for the audience who will think they are
drinking the raw eggs!
Dear
Mr. DeGroff:
My housemate bought me the Liquid Assets video, which made a terrific gift,
informative and fun. I was wondering you can help me return the favor as I'm
helping him throw a French themed cocktail party. You always have the right
advice to give, so here goes: We're right now looking at brandy based beverages,
and we know that the Sidecar and Brandy Alexander will be on the list... we're
thinking about the Champs Elysees, but the taste of Chartreuse might be too
bizarre for some people.
Do
you have any suggestions for short drinks or tall drinks(perhaps with champagne)
? Also, I'm thinking about making a brandy-based tall drink inspired by your
Anejo Highball and the El Diablo; I'm right now thinking of some brandy, lemon
juice, and ginger beer beverage but I dunno how well brandy mixes with ginger
beer. I was wondering if adding a dash of pernod and some cointreau/maraschino
might be appropriate? Would the result "taste french"? Has something similar
been done? Your knowledge and insight is always appreciated.
Sante, Chia-Hua
Hi
Chia-Hua Yu,
Good to hear from you again. Try bourbon, soda and Peychards Bitters. You
can get the bitters from the Sazerac Company: P.O. Box 52821 New Orleans,
LA 70121 (504) 849-6450
Here's
two recipes you'll enjoy:
RITZ COCKTAIL* This drink is my tribute to the Ritz Cocktails of Paris and
Madrid. 1 oz. Cognac 1/2 oz. Cointreau 1/4 oz. Maraschino Liqueur 1/4 oz.
Fresh Lemon Juice Champagne Stir in a mixing glass all ingredients except
the champagne. Strain into a martini glass and fill with champagne. Garnish
with burnt orange peel.
NEW
ORLEANS COCKTAIL* 2 oz. Bourbon 3 dashes Peychauds Bitters 2 dashes Orange
Curacao Stir with ice as you would a Martini and strain into a chilled Martini
glass, garnish with lemon peel.
Cheers
Hello.
I have a query on a cocktail, Supposedly named "Brain Haemorrhage." It has
Blue curacao, and another ingredient a white liquid but we can't figure out
what it is. It also had cherry advocate? The blue curacao was on the bottom
the clear liquid was on top and a swirl of pink in the midlle in a shot glass.
Leonora
Hi
Lenora, The published recipe is as follows: In a shot glass pour 3/4 oz. Irish
Cream 1/4 Peach Schnapps Dash Grenadine When the liquor hits the cream everything
starts to curdle and look like well a Brain Hemorrage I say the published
recipe because there are several recipes You mention Advocaat that could replace
the Irish cream pick you favorite sweet liqueur to replace the Schnapps. The
red or blood can come from the grenadine as it does in this recipe or it could
come from Chambord. Have fun Cheers
